举例是最常见的细节句标志。举例的内容是对前一句话的例证。

例题1

Some senses that function well in terrestrial mammals are either declined or absent in whales.For example, it appears that toothed species cannot smell.

解析

前一句提到鲸鱼有些感官功能不好,这句话中的概括词是some senses。接着举例说明到底是哪

些感官功能不好,也就是把some senses具体化,此处给出的例子为嗅觉(sense of smell).

例题2

Scientific evidence for this is abundant.For example,Dr Glass used to arrange subjects in exposure to the random noises to observe their response to the noise.What he marveled at was human's extraordinary adaptability to the noise.

解析

第一句话说“科学证据很充足”,接着举例将scientific evidence 具体化。
