　　The two multi-line graphs depict the average monthly temperature and average hours of sunshine for

　　two Australian cities, Melbourne and Darwin. On both charts, the horizontal axis indicates months,

　　while the vertical axis denotes either typical temperatures or hours of sunshine.

　　Overall, Darwin is sunnier than Melbourne for most months of the year, and what's more it's also

　　consistently hotter than Melbourne.

　　The January sun shines for ten hours per day in Melbourne, yet this figure declines steadily to 6 hours

　　in May. Then, the numbers stabilize till September, when the hours increase progressively through to

　　December, reaching 10 hours. Darwin, in January records 6 hours which is just 60% of Melbourne's

　　sunny figure to then rise markedly to 11 hours per day from June until September. This jump is almost

　　double that of Melbourne. In October to December, these numbers fall steadily to 8 hours.

　　Melbourne's temperature ranges from 6 to 18 degrees, beginning at 6 degrees, a dramatic 66% cooler

　　than Darwin's 18 degrees. Meanwhile, Darwin records a low of 18 to a maximum of 30 degrees. Both

　　cities record their hottest months from May to September.
