The multiHine graph depicts degrees of urban sprawl, which is measured on the vertical axis as a
percentage. The survey spans five decades, from 1980 and ending with predictions for 2030. The
nations include the USA, South Korea, India and China.
Overall, a striking feature is that all countries recorded considerable increases in urbanization, with
America being the most urbanized. South Korea, though presenting initial intensive growth, later
levelled off. India recorded the most significant rise, which is expected to continue to 2030. Yet, this is
in contrast to the other nations, where figures are envisaged to change a lttle from 2020.
In 1980, India and China were documented at 19 and 22% respetivelly, though, by 2000, India
outpaced China at 45%, continuing steady growth to 2020, reaching 55%. What s more, from this time
forward, urbanization is expected to quicken, realizing 65%, being 15% more than China.
America is shown as the most urbanized nation, beginning the survey at 63%, almost 25% higher than
South Korea. However, this gap closed considerably by 2000, with America expected to peak at 90%
and South Korea at 81% by 2030.
