1.字数不足

雅思写作考试官方针对字数不足这一问题的扣分原则是177～250个单词，审题单项扣1分；

101～176个单词，审题单项扣2分少于或等于100个单词，审题单项扣3分。

针对字数不足这一问题，可用以下四种方法来解决

(1)提供背景信息

提供背景信息这一技巧适用于无法完全读懂题意的考生。对于这些考生而言，他们只要读懂题目的部分信息就可展开思路。

例题：

Cars should be banned to enter the city center in order to solve traffic problems.To what extent do you agree or disagree? [2008.08.09]

运用提供背景信息这一技巧，开头段可以这样写:

Every day a lot of people go to the City cenire t0 work, · do'shopping and do many other things. So

many drivers would like to drive their cars to the city centre, which would cause traffic problems. (38words)

(2)举例说明

雅思写作中，考生常常通过举例说明的方式来进行论证，他们会用for example,for instance或take so田ething or somebody as an example等表达引出例子，然后再用2～5句话进行具体论证。

例题

Today many young people change their jobs or careers after a few years.What are the reasons for this? Do you think that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?[2014.06.21]

考生运用举例说明的方式，可以这样写:

A lot of young people change their jobs because they want to make more money. For example,many workers in china cannot eam much money, and they live a poor life. But many businessmenare rich and they have luxury cars and big houses. So workers would like to change their jobs, andthen become businessmen. Thus, they would try to do business and some of them will becotne rich.

(70 words)

注意举例论证的内容要控制在五句之内，且这一写作方式一定不能用在段首。

(3)对比

考生可以采用对比论证的方法使一个论点所占的篇幅翻倍。

例题

today a great number of languages with pwer speakers are disappearing. Some people think that go vernment should spend money on measures to protect these languages. Others, howevef believe that this is a waste ofJinancial resource. Discuss both views and give your-opinion. [2011. 03. 05 ]

考生运用对比的方法，可以这样写

Many languages with fewer speakers are dying out. If the government do not make policies to protect the minority languages, the number of their speakers will become smaller and smaller. As a result,

these lanwages will disappear for ever. But if the government an give enough money to the teacherswho impart these tonwes to children at school, the languages will be protected. (63 words)

注意通常一道题会有许多对比点，但主要的对比点一般只有一个。

(4)提出建议

文章写到最后一段，考生应该清楚自己所写的字数是否达到要求。假如缺了20～50个单词，这时可以在结尾段针对文章中出现的某种现象或问题提出合理的建议。

例题

Today the environmental problems are so big that ordinary people can do little to change thesituation, and only government and la To what extent do you agree or disagree? 12009. 02. 211

考生运用提出建议的方法，可以这样写

In conclusion, ordinary people, government and large companies should be responsible for solving the

environmental  problems. I suggest that everyone in society is part of the solution, and all of us shoulddo our best to keep om cities clean and make our world a better place to live. (49 words)
