Honestly, advertisements are really ubiquitous nowadays. They really get on my nerves. However, there’s an exception. A public service ad for animal protection really caught my eye and got me into deep thinking.
If my memory served me right, I first came across it ten years ago while I was on the subway train one day. It really stood out among all those commercials. I mean, it features sharks and elephants. However, the fins of sharks and teeth of elephants are removed without mercy as indicated in the picture. I got to say it really sent a shiver down my spine when I saw these bloody scenes, and the slogan ‘No buying, no killing’ struck a chord with me. To my mind, it conveys the truth of animal killing.

So, this ad obviously serves various purposes. For one thing, it clearly depicts how cruel and selfish human beings can be, and thus gives us a keen insight into our profit-seeking nature. For another, it raises public awareness and calls on us to take actions against illegal animal killing. And in my opinion, in the future, such public service advertisements should reach out to a wider audience as they help to change this world into a better place for all of us to live in.
