连贯性要求:目标分6分的学员,P2要使用大量的连接词和语篇标记词,例如:however, so, but, truth be told, or truth to be told, anyways, don’t get me wrong, i mean, what i am trying to say is, 等等

After thinking for a little bit just now, what I’ve decided to talk about is the time I waited for the result of my nucleic acid test.

If I remember clearly, it was the end of July. I was planning to take a trip with my family during the summer vacation. However, a confirmed case of COVID-19 was suddenly found in a neighboring community, which really scared us to death. It’s reported that the man was infected when he was traveling in Hunan province. Soon we got a phone call from a staff member in a local community that afternoon, urging us to take a nucleic acid test in the nearby hospital as soon as possible.

My family and I did it immediately. But it usually takes 24 hours to get the result. Truth be told, the whole waiting process was sheer torture for us, especially after we got to know the variant this time was more contagious. I really had ants in my pants. I can’t help pacing up and down and checking my mobile phone from time to time. when I was lying in bed,I even started to imagine what my life would be like if my result was positive. What I had planned for my future would totally be changed. What’s worse, I would probably lose my life. The fear and nervousness made me totally sleepless that night.

Then, I got up very early the next morning. Fortunately, the result was negative, which made me quite relieved. Right at that moment, I finally realized what we should really value in our lives.

  部分

  01

Who behaves better when waiting, children or adults?

I think the answer is obvious. Compared with kids, adults have more patience when it comesto waiting since they are more mature and have more self-control as well as cognitive level. They know that some things are worthy of waiting for. So, no matter how long it takes to get the result, they would still be civilized. While kids just want everything with the click of a button and lack patience. When their requests are rejected, they may immediately lose temper. Actually I’ve seen many of the situations when kids scream and yell during the waiting process.

  02

On what occasions do people usually need towait? I’d say waiting is inevitable in our everyday life, and we have to wait in many of the situations. It could be when we need to travel by public transport, like subways or airplanes, we might have to wait in a long queue, especially during rushhour. When we do online shopping, it usually takes us a few days to get theparcel. In general, waiting is a big part of our daily lives. If the situation or the task requires two or more people to complete it, then the waiting factor kicks inautomatically.

  03

Compared to the past, are people less patient now? Why? To some extent, yes. I think people nowadays are less patient because technology has made our lives way more convenient than before. For instance, in Beijing, people can order takeoutonline and then the food is usually delivered to our homes in less than 30 minutes, so peopleexpect that everything can be done much faster. In addition, we’re now living in a fast-paced world with very heavy pressure. People care more about efficiency and productivity. Therefore, in thisday and age, less people are willing to slow down and systematically study an area, instead, we tend to watch video clips or browse information on socialmedia.

  04

What are the positive and negative effects of waiting insociety? Well, on the credit side, waiting could develop patience in people. When people are willing to wait for others, they show respect and care for each other. In this case, the whole societywill become more tolerant, especially with elderly or disabled people. However, on the otherhand, waiting is time-consuming which would reduce efficiency of work and social production. Therefore, it might influence the pace of economic development. Apart from that, waiting may lead to a disastrous effect sometimes. Like, if we have to wait long for an ambulance, the consequences can be fatal.
